What YOU Can Do
Get Your Customers to Help
Using Customer Letters
Using Customer Letters
HOW TO USE THE SAMPLE LETTER
FOR COLLISION SHOP CUSTOMERS
Thousands of customers get their vehicles repaired at shops like yours all around Massachusetts every month. If you take a moment to tell them about our industry's biggest problem and how the future of your business is affected by it, many of them would send a message to their legislators if you make it easy for them to do so.
Here's a step-by-step process to use as a guide:
1. Be prepared. Once you receive the vehicle for repair, print out the sample letters on your company's letterhead. Since you have the home address for your customer, go to www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/myelectioninfo.php.
2. Enter your customer's address and click the "Who are my Elected Officials?" button. Scroll down the new page until you see two information boxes under the title, "Who are My Elected Officials?"
3. The bottom box contains the "District Representatives." You are looking for contact information for the "Senate in General Court" and "Rep in General Court."
4. Click the name in each of these and you will see the official profile page of the State Senator and the State Representative of your customer. Place the Senator's or Representative's name and address on the letter. Then, jot down the fax number for each and clip it to the letters. If no fax number is listed on the profile page, you should call the office phone and ask for the fax number.
5. When your customer comes to pick up the vehicle, explain the problem and, if the customer agrees, ask him or her to sign the letters. If a couple show up, you can make letters for both of them, and double the effectiveness of your efforts. Tell them you will fax them to the State House from your office. There, you've made it real easy for them to help you.
6. Please ask your customers to send you a copy of any response they receive from a legislator, and fax that response to our office at (617) 484-0205.
